Humberto (Bert) Ferreira, the director of information management for the Division of University Advancement, has received the Advancement Distinguished Leader Award – which is given to individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership.

In his role, Ferreira strategically manages the division’s information technology and provides business analysis and intelligence to the entire Advancement community.

The citation for the award notes that facilitating effective communications between those with a technical knowledge and those without can be challenging.

“Bert was (and continues to be) unfailingly gracious, responsive, reliable and dedicated to achieving superlative outcomes. [He] is a terrific colleague, always willing to answer questions and offers diplomatic suggestions and recommendations.”

Giselle Arsenault, the ��ɫֱ��’s associate director of global alumni engagement, and Deirdre Gomes, associate director, donor relations, at the Rotman School of Management, are this year’s recipients of the Advancement Rising Leader Award.

The honour recognizes staff who demonstrate great leadership potential, show a significant level of achievement, and support and inspire the people around them.

Working within the central Advancement office, Arsenault oversees initiatives that meet the needs of ��ɫֱ�� alumni around the world and promote the university’s global impact and reputation. The citation for her award says Arsenault’s “calm, quiet competence, collaborative approach and positive contributions make her a valued colleague.”

At Rotman, Gomes collaborates with key stakeholders and senior leadership to engage alumni, friends and donors in a lifelong relationship with the school.The citation for her award describes Gomes as “a rising star who can strategically evaluate programs, identify gaps and suggest a bold and often innovative path forward to ensure we as advancement professionals are being responsive to our donors and alumni communities.”

For their excellence in telling the stories of the ��ɫֱ�� community, communicators at the ��ɫֱ�� have earned four awards from the Canadian Council for Advancement of Education.

The Prix d’Excellence is the national association’s annual awards program, recognizing outstanding achievements in alumni affairs, public affairs, communications, marketing, development, advancement services, stewardship and overall institutional advancement.
